Either a commercial preparation, or does anybody have a good recipe?

The wet cat food in pouches -- regardless of brand -- is only partially enjoyed; the 'gravy' eagerly lapped up, but the meat tends to go somewhat ignored. (Not so with more mushy varieties in tins, but we even finick about that sometimes.) So...

Suggestions for a good brand that could be found at pet stores in Canada appreciated. I know I've seen the stuff for dogs, but have yet to find any made for cats. If you have a recipe, please include the source, and your comments on it.

"if you put the food out eventually the cat will eat it" -- er, no. Well, probably, but it'd be pretty damn disgusting by the time she did.

Re. suggestions for home-made: should maybe note I'm vegetarian and have never even tasted gravy, so very very dumbed-down instructions are a plus. Just cooking and thickening a broth sounds okay, but I'm wondering about the weird flavouring (etc) additives likely to be in the more processed 'people food.' If you know of something that's thoroughly cat-safe, mention as much -- thanks heaps!

Though re.'people food' -- she does like pasta with butter and parmesan and romano on it. It's almost worth making it just to see a cat slurping spaghetti strands.

I know Iams has a gravy for dog food, but not sure about for cats. Sure be worth a check. Or you can make your own. Use some beef broth. I'd make a big batch if I were going to the trouble of doing that, so I didn't have to make it all the time. I'd use a box of broth, 32 oz. heat until boiling then stir 4 tablespoons of cornstarch into 4 tablespoons for cold water and stir into hot broth. This will thicken it into a "gravy". Good luck

No - because that doesn't provide the nutrition they need. Your cat needs MEAT - not sauce. Switch your cat to a better quality food. Cheap foods are processed chunks in gravy. Quality foods come paté style or with REAL flakes of meat in a sauce. Good brands to dry - Innova Evo, Weruva, Tiki Cat, Merricks.

try taking some canned chicken broth and mixing the broth with equal ammounts of flour a little bit at a time to make a thick tasty gravy. or you could try putting the pouch of wet food into the blender and making a kind of meat smoothie for your cat. also, canned tuna juice is a big favorite for my cat.

When I cook a cat, I use the pan drippings to make the gravy.

More soy sauce, less buk choy!
