I am going to be scarlett O'hara for Halloween this year and I was wondering should I dye my hair brown for halloween? I would have to do it twice though because I am going to a halloween party on the 28th and then we are having a contest at work. And I want it to be temporary. Or should I just spend the nearly 40 dollars for a wig that may or may not be here by this weekend? (In which case I would only be wearing it once)

Or should I just style and curl my blonde hair to look like hers but leaving it blonde?

If your suggestion is to dye it which kind of dye should I use that will wash out?

Instead why don't you get a brown wig and curl it? This way you don't have to damage your hair at all but still look cute.

NO ... don't color it. Especially if it has been prelightened because the color will grab. There is no dark color that will wash out of blonde hair overnight. Even spray can hair color will soak into blonde hair because the strands are naturally thinner and more fragile. I would recomend looking in your local phonebook for wig stores. Stores like Party City have wigs for pretty cheap. Trust me... the amount you spend on a wig is going to be A LOT less than what you would spend to have a salon fix what you mess up. I know- I am a hair stylist!

Sure, why not? When it comes to hair, my philosophy, especially hair colors, is that, it'll grow out! I know with my dark hair it is extremely hard to get color into it; however, with your light hair, you may have a problem of getting even the temporary hair color out. They do make a spray in color, but it turns your hair all sticky and smelly. If you're afraid of the color staying, I'd say either buy a cheap wig or just curl your hair like you said.

Hair coloring in a salon can be about 50-60 dollars. So would you spend an easy 40 dollars on a wig and save 10 bucks that you can spend on box coloring if you change your mind or would you spend the 120 dollars JUST for Halloween?

Why?? you will spend over $40 dyeing your hair and you could ruin it. Buy a wig or that spray stuff that washes out with water.

I'm gonna go against the majority here and say have a professional dye your hair. Like you said, it'd just be the temporary stuff. Wigs are itchy and uncomfortable. Good luck! Hope you win a prize!

if you can't find a wig use a some kind of temporary color. i think you can get some that only lasts like a few days. but i don't think you should dye your hair with anything real serious though.

Don't even bother dying your hair or buying a wig. It's a waste of money. In my opinion, leave it blonde and just curl it. The dye may not wash out for a while, and it starts to fade and looks really bad. Leave it as is.

Ive had this problem too. i'm a blond also. last year i was gonna be sum1 w/ brown hair(dont remeber who). What i ended up doin was i got that brown spray dye (the stuff that u spray in ur hair and it comes out when u wash ur hair w/ shampoo). It turned out great- but i had to have sum1 do it for me. youy also have to go outside for it. they sell it at walmart in the halloween isle.its cheap too. about 3 bucks a can. i had to use 2 cans though (i have thick hair)

Be careful! Blonde hair can easily be turned green when dying it darker, and if you choose a colour with auburn or red in it it may even go pink. I would buy a funky wig to use, they're fun, cheaper than colouring your hair, and you don't have to deal with potentially disliking it!
