1. Interest
2. Affordability
3. Not the right time for it.
4. All of the above.
If one has parents that can afford to pay for it or you are smart enough to obtain scholarships and don't have responsibilities consider yourself blessed. Let's face it...it is out of range for the majority...so calling people stupid is not a very considerate or bright answer. Those who do obviously need an education just to learn about how the other half lives. A college education is no guarantee...I know people who slid through with a 2.50 GPA who are lazy but opportunistic and expedient as hell who only learned how to fake their way. Look at that Enron group of thieves. I know people who never went to college and who work hard and love what they do and aren't paying off student loans or whining about them now. They are happier making a decent honest living. Also, if the grammar and spelling I see on this site is any indication...half could not even get into college and if they do they are being taken for a ride.
What has an education done for those who provide a free education for prison inmates who'll never be able to use it than those on the outside of the prison walls. A committee of the highly educated no doubt....

I think part of the reason is that they don't realize the concequences of their decision. Few people do at that age. They just want to start working and be "grown ups"'. Some come from families that don't teach the value of education and they feel that school won't help them anyway. They may not be doing well in school, be far behind everyone else and have basically given up on education. Many of these people will live to regret this decision and become statistical fodder for books about America's lower socioeconomic levels like "The Working Poor" by David Shipler.

i stopped going to college because at the time i was working 60+ hours a week and carrying a full load. i stopped going the next semester and never got back going again. now that i live in germany on a military instillation my only option is online courses - which i plan on doing next term.

sometimes life events take precedence.

I imagine time/money would be the big reasons. If you have kids at a young age - which leads to lower disposable income you won't have either the time nor money for school.

I don't think its because people don't want to be educated because most people would jump at the chance to go to school (if they could afford it) and if they had the time.

You need to go back to school and learn correct english. Your question should read "Why do people stop going to school?"

I think it depends on what "School" you are pertaining to. // College I dropped out because it got too expensive, could no longer afford the tuition. // Even with the loans you pay on them forever. // If you are talking high school, it is because they do not know better and their parent obviously is not being a parent.

I don't know the answer to that question. I could never imagine quitting school, but people do. I guess they would rather watch their life waste away to nothing, instead of being succesful in life.

High school or college? As far as high school, well....ummmmm, they're stupid? Or maybe just lazy. College--there are good reasons.
