The statement was made by Russian Astronaut Yuri Gagarin. Yuri Gagarin flew into orbit aboard the Soviet spacecraft Vostok I on 12 April 1961, becoming the first man in space. He orbited the Earth once before returning for a safe landing in the Soviet Union roughly 90 minutes later.

Cosmonaut, actually. Yuri Gagarin, the first man to orbit the earth. It's disputed as to whether he actually said that or not, though.

"According to international media, from orbit Gagarin made the comment, "I don't see any god up here." There are, however, no such words in the full verbatim record of Gagarin's conversations with the Earth during the spaceflight"

Buzz Aldrin, who really expected to see it. He was a bit whacked out anyway and once mounted an expedition to find Noah's Ark, which never existed.
