I have read most of the new testament and have never seen a scripture that specifically states that suicide is a sin, or that those who commit it go to hell. People use Judas as an example, but my understanding is that he went to hell because he betrayed Jesus, not because he killed himself.

Suicide is a most greivious sin...rejecting God's gift of life seems an awful lot like rejecting God, Himself, don't you think? Suicide has been rightly called a permanent solution to a temporary problem...it has also been called the coward's way out, and that is a pretty fair assessment, I believe.
However, having said that...I can't think of any scripture that specifically deals with suicide.
Come to think of it, I can't remember any scripture that specifically states that Judas went "straight to hell", either.
I have seen a great many scriptures dealing with the love and long-suffering of God, and His willingness to forgive.
I have seen a great many scriptures, as well, that teach that we are not to judge anyone else's sin...seems that Jesus is mainly concerned that we should clean up our own hearts.
As for me, I believe that Jesus is the one in charge of judging our sin...including the sin of suicide. He is the one who knows each and every heart...

non-christian committing suicide equals hell
A Christan is commiting murder when they committ suicide. A christian shall be forgiven because he has been promised eternal life. John 3:16. Committing suicide is no bigger than any other sin a christian commits.
But a non-christian hasn't accepted Jesus so he is not forgiven
Hope this makes sense
if you want to email me I can give you some scripture.

The commandment thou shall not commit murder would fall
under this category. We are to trust God in all things and accept
his/our cross and move on. We are never to end life that is a task
for God alone. This is a Grave sin. Howerever the state and mind
of that poor soul must have something to do relative to the sin. We pray for Gods mercy.

Theologians generally believe that suicides go to Hell... The rationale is that the suicide has destroyed a creation of God, and has specifically rejected the gift of life. Dante dealt with suicides fairly well in his "Divine Comedy". (not that Dante was a theologian: he was merely encapsulating the theological belief.)

My uncle had commited suicide and i had tried to find stuff in the bible about it. the word suicide is never used in the Bible, there are several direct references to people killing themselves. suicide is an act of rebellion against God. Fortunately for all of us, however, God's grace is without prejudice. Whoever believes will be saved.

The Bible says you must repent of your sins to be forgiven. If you commit suicide, you cannot repent, therefore you are not forgiven. As for "once saved, always saved" sorry, it doesn't say that in the Bible. If you sin, you must repent, which means to turn from your sin. Suicide is a sin.
If you are contemplating suicide, please know that God loves you and he has a plan for you. Please talk to him about this. I will be praying for you.

Judas Iscariot committed suicide because he listened to Satan and betrayed Jesus - as a consequence of Judas' death, he went straight to hell. Enough said....

it doesnt say that taking your own life your destined to hell... (though people will say "thou shalt not kill") but if killing is taking away the life from another... you are free to take away your own? if god doesnt allow for suicide then perhaps he needs to make some peoples life a bit better. not everyone is gifted with a wonderful life and parents, and its not the persons fault for suiciding when their life goes straight down the hole and no1 cares about them...
