okay, so i am dating my bf for like 14 months on and off and now we go to the same university and live 10 minutes away from each other.so we are really crazy about each other and support each other and you guys will ask me what is the question then. well, recently my bf had an eye infection in both eyes since he wears contacts and is missing class and i was taking care of him for like almost 4 days at my place. okay, that is important but not like what i am bout to ask all of you: my bf the other day on the phone asked me if i will love him in 10 years and 20 years no matter what happens and i said yes since i really love this guy with all my heart and he feels the same way. he wants to live to be 102 to see me be100 years old for some reason and when i asked him today if he would love me in 40 or years he said that the amount of time i told him was a long time. i mean 20 years is long but not if you love someone and are happy w/ that person. what does he mean?help plz

oh and by the way i am in college, 22, smart and working on my degree in Biology and i am not blond-i am a brunette!-and my bf is almost 24. so i am not just another ditz who has no culture, worlwide idea about anything! and lastly, i love to travel, am well mannered, come from a middle-high middle class, am privileged, travel almost yearly to Europe and am doing ungergard research under my Biology teacher and her bf and then swapping to Molecular Biology....just so you guys know more adn do not call me a blond like the last guy who posted a comment!

Don't read into that. Forget it ever happened, and move on.

His change in answer is just because he is not ready for a full commitment. Its understandable because of your age. Keep enjoying your time together.

No one should promise something like that, you really cant know if you will love him in 10 or 20 years, its just a fact that theirs ways it can fall apart, any relationship can and no promises or oaths can keep it together. Maybe he just wants too lesson disapointment incase it doesnt last that long because neither of you can say for certain it could.

It means he was just wondering how committed YOU are to the relationship and that HE probably isn't as committed as you are.
