Help please.....I knew my boyfriend didn't like cats but I was hoping after we moved in tongether and after lots of begging he would be ok with us getting a kitten but he is so against it!!!! Do you have any suggestions on how I can convince him on getting a cat??

Simplicity my dear. He can make a "choice"; He can't love one/hate the other;its a package deal. You'll probubly have hurt feelings for awhile, but you NEED a guy who loves BOTH of you.

I'm pretty sure your boyfriend knew that you would be bringing your cat when you moved in. He should have plan ahead for this. Locking your cat in the basement can make him antisocial, depressed, and stressed out. Several months of knowing your boyfriend and you moved in with him? How well do you know this guy? Declawing was a bad idea as well. If you declawed a human you arebasicallyy cutting off their finger tips. I suggest talking to your boyfriend again, or taking your cat out of the basement. If he loves you then he should take allergy medicine.

I've always made it clear to my bf that I come with cats. I don't think you should have to beg. begging show him he had the final say. you should of talked to him before moving in instead of hoping.
the best thing I can say for you is to mention causally, if he ignores, do it again later. when he says no, ask him why. when he gives you a stupid answer tell him that's not good enough, always have a better reason than him. it may take along time, depending on his stubbornness.
and if that doesn't work, say no to stuff he wants. big screen TV, new computer whatever. and be really stupidly stubborn about it. when he asks why, your not allowed to have something that makes you happy, why should he have something that makes him happy!
If that doesn't work dump him

ok, whoa! do you already have a cat? no? then don't get one. normaly i would say if you already had a cat you should chose the animal over the boyfriend. (animals last longer than partners)
but no there is no help for this situation. The point is; if you do convince him to allow you to get one, he won't like it and might neglect it. This is not what you want for that animal! the issue is not really about the cat. instead, you should be wondering why you are trying to change him. Fact is you knew the answer would be no befor you asked. sorry

Personally, if it were me, I would just get the kitten anyway. I know that it sounds mean, but hey, if you want to own a kitten, then there is nothing that he can do to stop you.
As far as him not liking cats, well, if you do get the kitten and he is mean to it, then it is probably time to find a new boyfriend that does like cats as much as you do.

Well, what doesn't he like about cats? I think he might just get jealous and he knows it. It's best to just adopt another kind of animal. You know, like a puppy or a rabbit. It's better to just get a different animal. One you both like. And if you only want a kitten because their so cute then just forget it. I've had a cat for one year and he's not so cute anymore.

Maybe he is allergic to cats or had a bad expericed w/ them. Some cats can be mean. But i think the best way is to just ask and show him how great a kitten can be. But be prepared for the "who is going to change the litters box?" question.

Getting a pet is like deciding on having children...whoever doesn't want it should win. What happens if he gives in and then you guys fight about it constantly or he changes his mind? Then you have to find a home for the cat or leave him. Maybe you can find a different type of pet to agree on. Or it is that big of a deal to you, maybe you should find a new man.

I believe the ONLY way y'all could come CLOSE to coming together on THIS, is, if you let HIM set some Do's and Dont's the cat can do and NOT!
Most of what guys hate about cats, if they are like ME, is, they can't STAND them being FINICKY when HE wants to PET it, and CATS are the ONLY pets I know that try to cross EVERY LINE of a guys NO! Like jumping on the dinner table, getting in the bed, getting on the sofa, SCRATCHING furniture, scratching PEOPLE!! THESE are the things guys can't STAND about cats!
