Borrowed from a previous answer:
"Okay, tattoo artists could not even answer if you called in with a question like that. It is hard enough quoting over the phone, but there are too many things to consider.
There are many factors that go into the pricing.... The part of the country you're in is the biggest, the city, town, and shop all affect the price, BUT the only one that can actually TELL you an accurate price is an artist. All artists price differently. It also depends more on the design. No, I don't know how big of an arm you have, I don't know what 'too big or too small' is to YOU, too small is anything under over 80% coverage, and to other people too big is bigger than an inch my an inch area....the whole space....the whole space my expand further than you want it to, when an artiist tries to interpret what you're saying. It depends on the exact size, on the design itself, how intricate or simple it is, how hard it will be to do the tattoo right... how much ink will be used, what kind of ink will be used (black/grey or color), how busy the shop is...etc There are many factors to consider..
You gave us nothing to work with to even guess... Um, especially if it's custom, they give you a 'by the hour' fee. But it depends on where you are..etc. I know many artist have $200, or $300 hour charge where some are less than that
Go to a local artist(don't call in, but if you HAVE to call in, don't use descriptions like you did, you must be thourough and detailed.)So actually go in, and talk to artists, remember that price should really matter, shop around if you want, to see if some over charge, but also make sure you have a compenent knowledgable artist in a professional, sterile shop with artwork and skill you like and see fit...
Good Luck"

It depends on the detail and coloring of the design but I have a vine with two flowers on it extending 3-4 inches in length and about 1.5-2 inches wide on the foot. It was 80 dollars with moderate detail and 4 different colors.
I personally think that that sounds a bit much. I think $100 dollars would be more sufficient. I would compare prices with a couple more places.
But once again, when it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for!!

It really depends on the detail and how long it will take the artist to complete it. I have a couple of tattoos which ranged in price from $35-$200. Bring the drawing to a couple of shops and get quotes from them. That will give you an idea of what the normal price range is for your area.

THat sounds reasonable, here in texas, work is about 100 dollars an hour. And you have to think about how hard it is to tattoo on the foot. Has he mentioned that this area is very prone to fading? But hey, don't go for price, go for quality, it will last a life time you know!

I have a sparrow on my foot, its about an inch smaller though...i got it done in Costa Rica, so it was obviously much cheaper, only $50...however, when i got it touched up in the US, the artist told me it would have costed about $120 if i had gotten it done here. So $150 sounds about right.

Most tattooist have a base fee then charge according to size and detail since a tat with a lot of detail can take alot of time. I have a string of roses 8 of them and I paid $150 for it. I would think $100 would be more in the range

Yeah it is really going to depend on the amount of colors and the intricacy of the pattern. A couple years ago I paid $50 for a 1"x0.75" tattoo, so it seems fairly on the money.

It probably depends on a few factors. You are better of shopping around at other locations and finding out their prices. If the prices are relatively the same, then you are not getting ripped off.
Good luck!

Sounds great, that's exactly what I'd charge. In fact, I was charged $175 for a 5 inch foot piece, so I think you should go for it! Happy tattooing!

Depends on how many colors of ink the tattoo artist has to open.
