How many calories in a pound of what? Calories are a measurement of energy from food. A pound is a weight measurement.
A pound of water has no calories. A pound of bread has so many , a pound of butter has more than bread....Or do you mean how many calories burn a pound of fat?

You have to burn about 3500 calories in order to metabolize one pound of body fat, on average. There are many other factors in play however. 3500 calories is more than one person generally needs to consume in one day. (And WAY more than one person should consume in one meal, as one person above said.)
