You can't do anything for virual infections but just to let them run their course. The only thing the doctors can do is give you medication to either reverse the effects of the viruse if possible, or make you more comfotable. There is no medicine that can KILL a viruse. If you have a virual infection, I hope that it is the kind that goes away on it's own because if it is not, then you will be infected with it for the rest of your life.

Viruses that infect the nose, throat and sinuses are self limiting, if you have had symptoms for a year, it is because you keep re-infecting yourself. Suggest you look closely at your habits, stop touching your face, if you pick your nose, stop it, wash your hands frequently, avoid crowds and drink at least 2 liters of water a day.

There are hundred of viruses, from STDs, to just slight infections.

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted virual infection that infects the skin and mucous membranes, including those in the genital area. HPV is transmitted two ways: by skin-to-skin contact and by contact with infected body fluids. It is most often spread by sex play or sexual intercourse (vaginal, anal or oral sex). There is no cure for HPV. Because most people don't know they have HPV, they don't seek treatment. Warts cause by HPV can be treated, but treatment doesn't guarantee the warts won't return. HPV is the most common viral STD. Some people with HPV have warts on (or in) their genitals, but most people with HPV don't know they are infected. A Pap smear can detect HPV infection in women. Infection with certain strains of HPV causes cervical cancer in women. All sexually active women should have regular Pap smears so that cervical cancer and other problems caused by HPV can be recognized and treated.

viral infection has to run its course.there is nothing that can be done with a virus except rest and wait till it dies and goes out of your body.im not a doctor but if you have sinus trouble i do have hope from a md.teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces of warm water.snort this into your nose and let it drain from your mouth into the sink.i havent had any sinus problems in 25 years.a bacterial infection can be cured by antibiotics but a virus has to die out before you feel normal again.if you have a fever you can get hotter and sweat it out. heat will kill the virus.

Go see a different doctor.....If you have explained to your doctor that you have had it for that long and have made repeated trips to see him for the same illness then he is basically ignoring your problem......there are medicines that they can give for viral infections and it sounds like if you have had it for that long you definately need to do something about it. Dont overlook environmental causes. It could be something in your house or workplace that is causing the virus to last that long....Good luck!

Treat the symptoms with over the counter medications, go to the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist and he will tell you what you need for your symptoms. Take vitamins and drink plenty of natural juices and purified water. If it's lasted a yr sounds like a chronic allergy condition. Good luck.

Did you explain to the Dr. that you have had it for more than a year?

The unfortunate thing about viral infections is that there really isn't anything you can do. Sorry.

You need to get a second opinion. Antibiotics are for viral infections.
