Your dog should be fine, that isn't much chocolate if you want to induce vomiting it is very easy.

I had a small dog eat about 2 hershey bars, late one night around Christmas. The vet told me to give him a capful of Hydrogen Peroxide and if he didn't vomit to give him another one and so one and so on. The dog lapped the stuff right up and after about 3 capfuls vomited his brains out and now he is fine!

So even if you dont need to do it now, it is good to know that is how you induce vomiting. Also you can always call poison control or a 24 hour vet for advice.

Chocolate is toxic to dogs in large quanities. It contains a substance called Theobromine which dogs cannot digest. The Theobromine doesn't pass through their digestive system; instead, it stays in their body. The more chocolate they eat, the more Theobromine builds up in the dog's body until it reaches a toxic level.

If your dog has eaten chocolate, get it to the vet as soon as you can (whether it's showing symptoms or not), and take some of the chocolate with you so the vet can test to see how much Theobromine there is in it. Symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, cardiac problems, convulsions, and coma.

Here's the doggie text book information on it:

It is important to know just how much chocolate can produce toxic effects on your dog and that amount is one hundred to one hundred and fifty miligrams. That measurement to most does not mean much so to simplify it if you have a twenty pound dog that means to reach the level of becoming poisoned they have to eat approximately ten ounces depending on th type of chocolate. Bakers chocolate and unsweetened chocolate are harsher types for any dog to eat only because the chocolate is purer therefore they contain a higher dosage of Theobromine than the regular candy bar type chocolate.

Not enough to harm your dog in that amount, a vet would just tell you the same and probably give you a lecture about it too, if your dog can't tolerate it he will be sick later from it, my dog is 11 years old and every single week since we've had her she has had 6 Maltesers and its never done her any harm, I think if you give your dog large quantities of chocolate its bad for them but a little bit like your dog ate won't harm him and I bet hes still licking his lips now the scallywag, hope your feeling less stressed now.

No its not lethal. Don't worry.
Keep an eye on him for any signs of illness in case he is particularly allergic to any of the ingredients.
You should be aware that more chocolate is more likely to create a build up of toxins and cause a reaction but this small amount won't have a noticeable effect.

Watch the dog. My Italian Greyhound ate an ENTIRE BOX of double-chocolate chocolate chip cookies one day. The vet just told us to watch her - she had very bad emesis and diahhrea which was her system getting rid of the toxins. She's fine now. I would watch the dog but also call the vet when they open. Good luck!

Wow!! Yah Chocolate can make a dog very sick!! Some dogs react differently to the chocolate, My suggestion is take your dog to the vet and make sure that everything is ok. If you don't want to do that, watch for unusual behavior, eating habits, and bowel movements.

Call your vet if your dog eats chocolate to discuss whether treatment or monitoring in the hospital are warranted.
If it eats alot. If it ate a little the most that will happen is it will possibly get sick.
