If you have a hand mixer, just use that, if not, just do it by hand until smooth. You don't need to use a blender unless it says to.

Only if it specifies to use a mixer. Normally you don't ever use a blender. When dealing with cottage cheese, you really want to hand blend because cottage cheese is so delicate. Whip the egg with a fork first, then add the parmesan and the cottage cheese. It will incorporate much faster. Good luck with your cooking!

What are you making?
If something like lasagna, I would use a spatula or spoon. For something like a quiche or cheese pie or cheesecake, I would use an electric mixer set on low. A food processor or a blender is going to turn the cottage cheese into liquid.

Kind of depends on what you are making. BUt if you wisk the eggs well then blend the rest with a fork all will be well. If you used a blender with those ingredients you might over blend because of the cheese and it could curdle up. Sick with the fork

Depending on with you are making. The term to Blend means to mix all ingredients until well combined. It sound like you are looking at a recipe for lasagna. You do not want a puree texture in your lasagna it will take away fro the feel of the dish. Just mix "blend" your ingredients until well combined

I would only use a Blender if it is the specified tool. Usually when a recipe states "blend" you can use a regular electric mixer to do the blending.
Good luck!

NO!! use a wire whisk. the egg beater thing as most people call it.this will allow all the clumps to be smoothed out with no heat, or picking out any leftover lumps.

no, just blend w/spoon until smooth. A blender might make it too watery.

You could. But a hand mixer isn't out of order either. Or simply use your old fashioned wooden spoon and mixing bowl. :-)
