I had my wisdom teeth extracted in May. Since then, I've been in terrible pain-shooting ear pain, to the point where I'm in tears. It feels like I'm in an airplane 24/7. I've been to an ENT and dentist, but to no avail. I'm a college student and this pain is affecting every aspect of my life. What is it and how can i TREAT it?

Terrible shooting ear pain suggest to me that you may have damage to the TMJ. This is not rare after wisdom tooth removal. Please visit the hospital at your college if it is a teaching hospital with a dental or oral surgery department and get this evaluated.

Sounds like residual nerve pain. Sometimes, the nerves don't grow back correctly. That is a risk with every kind of surgery.

Talk to the doctor about trying Lyrica (LEER-i-ka). It is a fairly new medication that can really help nerve pain. It's non-addictive.

Sounds like you have some nerve damage. Go to another dentist and get a second opinion.
