And yes I am aware of the meaning of chronic, for the person who said it isn't a drug. The reason I was asking is because I have heard people say "smoking chronic" or whatever...

Chronic means long standing as opposed to acute which means coming on suddenly. Chronic is not a drug but an adjective to describe a condition. An example would be "chronic lung disease" as opposed to "acute pneumonia".

"chronic" is not a drug, it's a desciption of some kind of diseases, it either be labeled "acute" or "chronic". chronic means it is (disease) developing slowly, or of long duration; constantly recurring.
acute means it is arising suddenly and manifesting intense severity or of relatively short duration.
