For the past couple of years whenever i get hot my whole body starts to itch, it is more of a burning itch, in extreme itching small red dots maybe 1mm will appear on the bottom of my arms then go away when the itching stops. On my chest if have small red dots all over it, they are constantley there, http://dermatlas.med.jhmi.edu/derm/IndexDisplay.cfm?ImageID=-1434786740 it looks something like this, once i start to sweat it usually goes away, i usually shower once a day at night and when i shower i just wash under my armpits and in other place with soap, i don't wash my arms, chest or back or legs with soap because i was scared it would dry out my skin and i thought dry skin was causing me to itch. I have now narrowed to 2 thing that i think might be causeing this, either atomic determius (spelling?) or miliaria rubra, but these are just assumptions, it is also worse in the winter months.

It sounds like it could be Atopic Dermatitis (aka Eczema). If this is what it is, then quick, but cooler showers are the way to go. I suggest using Ivory soap because it washes away dirt & oils, & is non-drying. The soap also lacks irritating scents & additives. Then lightly pat your skin dry, do not rub. Use over-the counter Hydrocortisone 1% cream (simple & generic is good because it lacks extra additives like alcohol, camphor, or menthol---these will burn). On the rest of your skin, use a good moisturizer such as Eucerin or even Vaseline. Be sure to read the ingredients to avoid chemicals that will burn. Benadryl tablets can help decrease the itchiness, & will help you sleep better. Do this for awhile. If ineffective, see a regular doctor for a stronger prescription steroid cream.

I suggest that you wash your whole body with "very dry skin" washing soap. It may be heat rash. I use to get it on my legs. Since you are not washing your arms, legs etc. you have a build up of dead skin cells that need to be washed off every day. I would also suggest using a medicated lotion like Gold Bond after you have showered. The powder is also good from under your arms, legs.

It does sound like a heat rash anyway. You probably would be better off talking to a dermatologist.

Have you tried using a good body lotion to handle the dry skin part?

Good luck!

I suggest you stop trying to self diagnose and see a dermatologist. Only a fool guesses and treats himself.
