I am 32 weeks preg. and went into labor yesterday. They gave me a tributerline shot to stop contractions and sent me home with medicine to keep the uterus from contracting. The nurse told me that I was 2 centimeters dilated and 77% this is my 3rd pregnancy and had my 2nd at 36 weeks I am going to dr tomorrow but wanted to know what does this mean? Could I have the baby soon or will it still take a while? Very concerned and nervous about the babies health. Any suggestions?

That was what happened with me except the dr's didnt give me the shot. instead i gave birth to a healthy 5lb baby girl.
however, when the nurse had measured how effaced I was and dilated. She was wrong, my midwife came in and was like yeah you're having this baby today.
Its scary, i know it is, they may keep giving you the shots until you are at least 38 weeks. but if you dilate any more and get to 100% effaced there may be no stopping the labor and they will have to deliver.

I would think you will need to be very inactive, or labor can start up again. I know it's possible to be dialated and labor not begin, but being effaced so much. . .I don't know. It looks like you'll probably be having this baby early, like your last one. As for 'soon', do you mean as in beinging in the next couple days, or do you mean it only taking 5 hours? It can start soon, espically with activity, but the length of the labor wouldn't be affected, in my opinion. The baby will be ok. .. at 8 months it's survival rate is excellent. But holding off will be best, if possible. The baby, if born now, will be at the hospital for a while. Good luck :)
