I Have a pom, Great dog, a little protective of me and my other two dogs, and barks quite a bit. If you live in an apartment or other close living situation this might not be the dog for you. They love to run and need space to do so. My favorite quiet low key dog is the Pekingese. I also have one of these, she thinks she is a cat, great for cuddles!!! Good luck with your choice.

1)I love owning Poms because of the coat, size, temperment and cute factor. I like the way they look.
2)the same responsibilities of any breed are the same in Poms. They need excercise, discipline and love. You must keep them in good health-keeping current on innoculations and wormings and flea/tick treatments.
3)diseases that are common in Poms are common in many toy breeds and then communicable diseases are common in pets all together. Keep them flea and worm free. But from a reputable breeder who does health testing. Never buy from a pet store. Poms as many toy breed are-are prone to luxating patella's, collapsing trachea's, liver shunt, heart condition, retained puppy teeth...
4)that is something that is determined by their genetics and how they are raised. Keep them healthy, well excercised and disciplined, and love them.

Pomeranians aren't very family oriented. Also, if you are the kind of person with alot of expensive furniture, they will use it as a bathroom before they shred it to bits. They are the kind of spoiled dogs that will do what they want when they want, or at least mine was like that. I would suggest a chihuahua, they are the sweetest little things!
