It really depends on the people. I have three sets of friends who have all had long distance relationships -two of the sets each of them was in a different part of the UK (at least 3 hours apart) and the other couple spent a few years in different countries and have still been together 6 years and never had any problems. On the other hand I know couples who have gone to separate uni's and have split up despite being together over 18 months.

It depends on the people.

It RARELY works. Because inorder for a relationship to work, one must spend quality TIME on it which means spending time together, doing things together... Things like that. But there's no way one can do that when they're apart from their partner, right? Sure the communication is there but communication alone cannot make the relationship grow or work.

They can, but they need even more work than short distance ones. You get out of any relationship what you are prepared to invest.

they work out if both partners want it to work. if they both trust each other and love each other enough they will be together for as long as they want but if they allow jealousy, envy, and distance interfere with their relationship they will not last too long.

Yes they can if the dedication and devotion to one another is equally strong, mutual, and adhering. It takes a great deal of loyalty and respect not to lie and ho around on someone these days but it is possible and if you can get that kind of relationship don't mess it up.
