Last time I was sick, I took some Tylenol Cold (which said "non-drowsy" on the box) but it made me sleepy. I'm sick again now, and my mom bought me some CVS cold medicine, which also says "non-drowsy," and I took the recommended dosage this morning (2 pills) and it made me drowsy. Why is that?

Everyone reacts differently to medications, the non-drowsy forms of cold medicines usually have sudaphed in them, it makes me drowsy too. A good naturopathic alternative is Zicam nasal swabs. It is a gel based zinc formula, zinc blocks the replication of viruses. You might try that instead of the otc medicines.

Non-drowsy medicine only works for 97% of the population. If you're like
me non-drowsy doesn't mean a thing. I read fine print on a bottle of med.
once and it said 3% of the people who took this experienced drowsiness.
So just grin and bear it, it's what I do.
