If you use soap to wash your face, try not to. My face does this as well, and during the time it is doing this I dont wash my face with soap. Soap can remove some of the essential oils the skin (not just on your face, but all over) needs to moisturize itself. So if you wash your face with soap several times a day, or if you take several showers a day, try to use soap only one of those times, and avoid using it on the face at all when its dried out.

I get this problem in the winter too, and the best advice I can give you is to learn from my mistake and try to exfoliate the areas as little as possible - it helps initially, but over-exfoliation will actually make it worse after a couple of days.
There is a cream for eczema that works wonders - it's called Diprobase and you can get it from any pharmacy. Better still, you don't need a prescription and it costs less than £3! It does smell a bit like hospitals, but it's worth it lol. I just apply it as often as needed when I get in at night, and slather it onto the dry areas before I go to bed.
Good luck, hope this helps.

I know u r gonna think that I am gross for proposing this idea, but there is a cheaper remedy to your problem, Just dont wash your. When I say this, I mean, dont use any soap. When you wake up in the morning time take a warm towel and wipe your face with that, and once you have done that, run cold water on the towel to seal your pores. I promise you that your skin will be so much healthier after that. I have tried every problem none to man to help sooth my dry skin, but nothing works. So, I tried this method, and my skin has been clear every since, Remeber, once you have sealed your poors with the cold water put some Suave Unscented Lotion on your face. It works miracles.

exfoliate the dry skin during a shower and moisturize with facial lotion afterwards. Try St Ives apricot scrub for REALLY dry skin and baking soda mixed w/ water (like a paste) for the rest. Scrub lots! Try Mary Kay moisturizer or if you really want to spend money, try the Mary Kay microdermabraision kit ($55) but it will make your face feel SO incredibly smooth! It feels like porcelain!! you only have to use it once or twice a week. You will have enough to last about 6 months

Use a good facial moisturizer every single day. That should help the problem a lot. Also pick up a hydrating masque, that way you can use that on days where your skin seems extra dry.

Go to www.saffronrouge.com and order the Weleda face balm. It is specially formulated for dry skin due to extreme weather conditions. It is $12 for a 1oz tube but well worth it!

Try exfoliating and then moisturizing. This is what I use for exfoliating: http://www.lilou-organics.com/scripts/prodView_brands.asp?idproduct=212
Once you get all the dead skin off after a few applications, then just make sure you moisturize daily. I keep cream at my desk so when I'm bored at work I remember to apply it!

I have the same problem. The key is not just moisturizer but also exfoliation. I use a sugar scrub from Philosophy.
One poster suggested petroleum jelly... do NOT put that stuff on your face!
