it depends on the weight, height, and the ability to hold their own head upright. read the manufacturer label on the booster seat if you're unsure.

it varies on your state, your childs age and childs weight.
here in pa its back facing for children age 1 or 20 lbs, then front facing until booster seat ready.
check the booster box for height weight requirements/max's.
8 years or 80 lbs is also the 'dont have to be in a booster anymore!' range :) i also use the 'can the child bend at the knees while sitting in the seat' rule. it works!

there is no accurate age. It all matters in height. For example, a child "should be" four foot eleven to be out of a booster seat. So if the child is tall, it can be a booster seat, if it is short, keep it in.

we just recently switched my 4 yr old to a booster seat I do know they have to be 40pounds. I hope this helps.

Usually about 3 yrs old and atleast 30 lbs

It has more to do with the weight of the child rather than how old he/she is. Check with your local hospital and / or police dept and they will give you the guidlines for the state you live in.
