is there any way I can encourage the mom to produce more milk? The puppy (only 1 in the liter) isn't even quite 2 weeks old yet and goes from teet to teet trying to get all he can. Also he is NOT taking to the bottle for supplement feeding. What can I do, please help with SERIOUS answers only.

Are you absolutely sure he isn't getting enough to eat? Sometimes puppies will just go from nipple to nipple, especially only pups.
If the pup seems skinny, or lethargic, then worry. If he's fat and happy, just leave him alone, he's probably gonna be fine.
If he is skinny, call the vet. There are medicines that can help. They can also show you how to give the pup a bottle. Sometimes, it's not always as straight forward as it might seem.

The first thing you should do is talk to a vet to rule out any serious health problems. If your vet says they are medically OK... Is the puppy producing urine or feces? The mom stimulates this by licking their behinds. If mom is not, you need to use a warm, wet cotton ball and wipe them to simulate what mom would do. Puppies with clogged up plumbing won't want to eat. For supplemental feeding, check that the nipple on the bottle isn't clogging or collapsing. There are special pet bottles as the nipples on regular bottles are not the best shape for puppies. Also, there are puppy milk replacement formulas that you can buy at any pet feed/supply store, although gently warmed goats milk is good, too. If the puppy is healthy, he should catch on to bottle feeding pretty quickly. You can try wrapping him in a warm towel. Put a hand sized towel in the dryer for a couple minutes. Good luck with your new friend.

Well sugar you cant make a mother produce milk. Just like a human mother...if her milk dont come in..her milk dont come in; not much you can do about it. You local WalMart has puppy milk down the flea collar aisle. Use a dropper and put it in the back of the puppys throat and squeeze slowly. Sounds inhumane but its not. More than likely you will lose more out of the mouth than in but be patient. Just like a human baby only a puppy can be a lil more squiggly. The pup will catch on.... Think of the bond the two of you will have. Oh yeah and by the way....your female dog is called a Dame not a Dam. And thats only if she is a true breed. (full blooded) *winks*

about 10 mintues before the pup's feeding, try putting a warm washcloth on the dam's belly. this should help the milk flow more freely.

You must use a special milk for feeding pups when the mother dries up. contact the vet for this special type of milk. I have heard of breeders using goats milk for feeding puppies.

Take her to the vet. The vet can give her a shot to increase milk production and also check her to make sure she is OK after having the pup.

Make sure you are feeding her well and giving her plenty to drink.

You need to talk to a vet. I think there are medications that can be given to encourage the lactation.
