Situation: Girl has caught my eye and I would like to ask her out sometime. I, unfortunatley, have forsaken my personal automobile for a bicycle. In addition to that, I do not have a lot of expendable income as graduate school tuition takes care of that. Borrowing a car is out of the question as well.

What I ask: Knowing what is known above how do I go about pulling this off? Does my situation kill any chance at getting this girl? Would it be acceptable to meet somewhere or be picked up by the person you asked on a date?

I actually prefer to meet somewhere on a first date - it's a little safer until I know the person better. Is she a student as well? Why not catch her after class and get a cup of coffee on campus or eat at a restaurant near campus?

Try explaining this to her, as you have here. If she's a reasonable person and worth your attention, she should understand. And if she can't accept your temporary situation, do you really think she's worth it?

I think if you are upfront and honest with her everything will work out fine.,
