You can't and even if you could I wouldn't suggest it. They are not like parakeets or other birds you find in pet stores. Those birds are almost always born captive. If you were to try to capture and try to tame a mockingbird you would stress him out probably to the point of killing him. Leave them in the wild.

It is against the law to capture mockingbirds. I have raised a couple because they were abandoned by their parents, and I always had trouble with the police accusing me of capturing them. A bad idea unless you want to have trouble with the law.

Probably illegal - I think wild birds are illegal to keep.
If you did get one, and he did settle in enough to make noise, he'd drive you nuts - they chatter all night.
If you did get one, I doubt he'd get tame enough to pet.
It would be hard to get the right diet for him. They don't sell mockingbird food at the store.
Why don't you get a parakeet.

It's illegal, and it would probably be hard to domesticate an adult bird anyway. You should get some binoculars and then you can go watch birds do stuff outside, where they belong.

that is a wild animal; it would be cruel to try to domesticate it and could be illegal depending on your location. Enjoy it in its natural setting, feed it, but let it be free =)

Please Don't try to capture a wild bird. It is cruel. If you want a bird to love & care for, please buy one. Try the many rescue org.s for a bird.
