I'm not single and I still dislike holidays because everyone is so happy for no particular reason and the meaning of most holidays have been lost.

Yes, if you are around family gatherings where you might be expected to be "married by now" and everyone has children and you don't and the conversation tends to run in that area; or if you are around married couple friends and their conversations tend to be all about "happy married life", then you can really feel left out around the holidays. Don't get stuck in that rut during the holidays. Give your own Christmas or Thanksgiving parties. Invite your single friends.

Yes, it can be lonely to not have a "special" someone in your life at the holidays; but that day will come. In the meantime, don't live in the future or obsess about being lonely. Live in the now; enjoy yourself. You'll be so busy having fun and counting your blessings that some day soon, you'll turn around and that someone special will be right in front of you. Good luck! Love yourself and have fun!

Nope. I have no problem being single during the holidays. The only time it would bother me is if we broke up right before the holiday and all the gifts with his name are still under the tree.

Nah, when I was single I would make plans WAYYYYY ahead of time to make sure I'm surrounded by people I want to be around.

That cured lonliness around the holidays for me.

Jsut make sure you're the HOT one at these gatherings, so the other singles can drool all over you!

Yes, I know what you mean.
I have been single for a while now
and when October rolls around I just don't want
to see the holidays not being able to share it with
someone.

I love the holidays, but the loneliness does get to me. I'm not very close to my family, so we don't get together for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Usually, I find myself going to my friends' family's house and spending time there. That just makes it worse to see how they can all gather together. Yeah... ok, so maybe the holidays do suck :(

We have plenty of people in our lives: Friends, family, co-workers, the friendly baristas at Starbucks. We don't need to celebrate the holidays with any significant other. Some of us don't need or want a significant other, period.

Only sometimes when I get lonely. Most of the time I enjoy it because I can do whatever I want.

i know what you mean , being at school or work is sometimes better than being alone or not knowing what to do , nobody to talk to , best thing is hang around in places where you could meet somebody .
