I want to take photos that have that old school look to them, not like black/white but colored. I was wondering if there was a certain type of camera or just how to do it in general. Sorry I don't know how to explain it very well, but thanks for any input!

Try Sepia.

Old world shots rely largely on skilled photography whose qualities of good contrast, hues, saturation, smoothness of grain or a grainy speckle effect, bring life to the subject matter.(G)(G1)

Shooting with Single Lens-Reflex (SLR)(1) lens on SQ, ETR and GS Bronica models, medium format SLRs or Twin Lens-Reflex (TLR) produces varying degree of contrast, and by virtue, hues, tones and sharpness.(2)

In post-processing (after shooting), prints (from film) are processed to produce that effect. Process the film accordingly.(3)

Alternatively, use a digital camera for expedience and post process the required effects.(4)

Mostly its all about the lighting technique and the way you apply the colour. If you're working with digital, then in Photoshop change the image's colour and hue/saturation until needed, you also have the option of certain photo filters in Sepia, and other colours...lighting effects while you're taking the photo of more yellowish light from above and quite low wattage will also help, as well as with your standard spotlight. Your pictures should also have quite a low f.

If you are printing in the darkroom, usually, they it will be easier, but just move around the colour filters while exposing and leave it in the fixer for a longer time. Use resin-coated paper...that gives a good effect.

or you could just use an old camera.

Most old photographs, have one thing in common, or should I say, two things. One they are black and white, and second they have a sepia color tint to them. Check out your Photostudio for a Sepia color button and click on that. Great pics, by the way, I don't see a point in making them look old, but it's fun to try anyway. So click on your drop down menus, and see if there is one for removing colors, and/or sepia tone. Click on it, and see if the result is what you want. Then save it, as another file name, so you can keep the original.

Maybe use a photo manipulation programme.
