Yes, these were legal hispanics who didn't do anything wrong. The people that tried to intimidate them acted exactly like the racist people in the south during the civil rights years that tried to scared blacks into not voting.

EDITED:

Your question leaves a lot to be desired. You give no information on what happened and who was involved, except for some people trying to vote. You also call this person by a name that is raciest itself, goo*k is what you said, no matter how you spelled it. Now that statement of your's makes you the one who is raciest.

The quote is:

"You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal or you are an immigrant, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time."

The candidate who is charged with the sending of the letter is a Vietnamese immigrant so there is something very fishy here.

I see nothing wrong with that quote except it is poorly worded. Everything it says is true except that it should have stated, "...non-naturalized immigrant..." not just the word immigrant.

Now as for the part of the letter sating that the federal government had installed a computer system to verify the names of new registered voters and that anti-immigrant groups would be able to access that information. That is a lie and is not acceptable, but is not necessarily a crime. The Feds are checking it out to see if a crime has been committed.

Raciest, no. Hate crime, no, not in the least. That idea is ludicrous and only insinuated by people who are tied up with their own inner hatreds.

When you call someone a racist, and then refer to them by a racist term, such as 'goo k', you, yourself, have degenerated to the level of actually being a racist yourself.

The cops are already on this guy about it...chances are, he'll never see public office after that stunt, and good riddance.
Immigration/illegal immigration is a big problem, with lots of angles, lots of contributing factors, dealing with it maturely and professionally is not an easy task, nor do people really even understand the problem very well, when all is said and done. I've been reading about this whole mess for a year, now, and I SORT of think I could maybe buy myself a clue on this, but every day I read something new...something else I hadn't considered before.
BUT: I do know this: you start calling people names, which is a form of race-baiting, it's just gonna make things worse...people already have their blood up on this, better to dig for lawful answers and most of all, the facts behind the issue. Without those, any solution's going to prove itself difficult to find or implement.

The core driving force behind this massive influx of people to the United States is....money, or at least, promises of money...because 'american dream' turns 'american bust' for a lot of people, which is why they jump over to crime, because crime DOES pay in this day and age, look at all the drug news. Millions, if not BILLIONS of dollars. People lose their minds if you put enough money in front of em, they go nuts. People WILL kill for money...sad, but true, and the law, or ethics, or mores, all go right out the window if there's a big enough number at stake...better to have only 20 bucks in your pocket, and not be associated with some of these people than to be in league with people that are driven that way...that's my view, anyway...

"You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal or you are an immigrant, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time."
This the message sent in the letter. It was really stupid to equate immigrant with illegal immigrant, but do you really get any sense of hate here. I don't. It was a staffer who sent it out and she has been fired. Why does every little mistake intentional or unintentional have to be taken as a great offense? If exact spelling, grammar and definitions are going to be used to exclude some one from running for office or used as evidence of hate crimes there are a number of people using this site that had better shape up fast.

****? Not racist at all, are you?

Did he try to intimidate Latinos or just illegals and legal residents (but not citizens) to keep them from voting? Because it IS illegal for legal residents (but not citizens) and illegals to vote.

I don't know Spanish enough to interpret what I understand is the key word. It either means 'immigrant' in a way that can apply to naturalized citizens (in which case the letter went too far) or else it means 'residents' but not 'citizens'.

Do you know? Because that is the latest debate, as I understand it.

You use a racial slur to defend illegals against what you perceive to be racism? Touche little person.
I see nothing wrong with anyone attempting to get our govt. to enforce the law in our country regarding citizenship requirements in voting. Illegals who use fake documentation in order to vote are committing crime on top of crime and should be convicted regardless of their country of origin. The right to vote belongs to US citizens who have a stake in the outcome of any given election. Voter fraud is a Federal crime which is punishable by law and includes penalties including but not limited to deportation. Anyone ignorant enough to vote in a country that they are not a citizen of should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We will see illegals going home in droves when the current administration is overturned after the elections and we vote in representatives who are willing and able to protect our citizens by cutting off the free handouts that illegals currently enjoy and come here for. They won't want to come here when they realize that there is no job, no welfare, no wic or free health care waiting for them over our border. Hasta la vista illegals! Your homecoming is sooner than you all think.

This was a set-up by Loretta Sanchez...the congresswoman who is the incumbent in this race and is running for re-election against Mr. Tan.

Something similar occurred for the LA City council race between Pacheco and the current city mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Villaraigosa had someone from his camp volunteer for Pacheco, who then sent out unauthorized letters in Spanish to all Hispanics in the district (in the name of Pacheco.) The letter stated that Villaraigosa wasn't really for the Latino community as he had many friends and associates who were white and, therefore, wasn't really concerned with the Latinos. Then Villaraigosa played the victim and claimed that he loved the Latino community, but is color-blind and is willing to work with and for everyone. This cost Pacheco re-election...Villaraigosa won the Council seat and then went on to become mayor.

Sounds like this is exactly what happened here. Sanchez sent someone to work for Tan, who then sent out letters "on behalf of Tan" without his permission knowing that it would stir masses and get awesome media coverage...which is just what's happening.

He is being set up by illegal alien lovers because he is an immigrant who is against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION! Check out this link:

Does this link give you any insight as to why Loretta Sanchez would want to ruin this fine man?:

The original poster is one that is racist.

It is racist to try to deny a certain ethnic group their civil rights if they're LEGAL United States citizens.
