About 45 min. give or take. I'm not familiar with Truvada but Kaletra has as a common adverse effect nausea and as a less common adverse effect vomiting. It's recommended that Kaletra be taken with food to enhance absorption and this may decrease nausea as well.

The drug Truvada is an anti-HIV and Hepatitis drug, and the drug Kaletra is an anti-HIV drug. They are both very powerful drugs and will cause nausea and vomitting. Make sure you take them with food and drink plenty of fluids (preferably water) when you take them. It usually takes about ten to fifteen minutes for any drug to fully absorb into the bodies bloodstream unless it is a delayed release pill.
I'm a Phlebotomist.

Phantomlimb, above, is correct. It really depends on many items. Some drugs are even time released and are designed to dissolve or breakup slowly.
Most likely you are getting less than half of your drugs intended dose due to the vomitting. Talk to your MD about the timing of the medications (taken with or without food, or in the morning versus the evening), to see if taking them at a different time or with food might help. If not he/she may want to prescribe something less inflammatory to your sensitive stomach.
Good luck and God Bless!

Pill absorption is affected by many things: how full your stomach is, what the acidity of your gastric juices are, whether you have diabetes (which can slow gastric emptying time), the size and type of the medication and how it is constructed.
If you are vomiting up your pills within 30 minutes of taking them, you are likely missing out on your medication dose, or at least losing part of the effect from getting only a reduced dose. Speak with your doctor, perhaps you need to space these meds to take them at different times rather than together? Maybe you need to take them on an empty stomach, or with food? Maybe you need to take them with juice only or water only?
In any case, discuss with your doc.

as i dont know what your taking, its really your metabolism that dissolves your medication.if your meds are hard it can take up to 45 minutes to dissolve.aspirin can dissolve in 10 to 15 minutes and if you take your meds with a entire glass of water it will get into your system faster than if you take them with anything else.ok i know what your meds are so i suggest eating a piece of bread or toast before taking your meds if your doctor says its ok.many medicines are tough on the stomach and food should be eaten before taking any thing if it is prescribed as "take with a meal".

Maybe you should eat something -- like a piece of toast or bowl of cereal before you take it.
