The police haven't done their part in this. When I called the accident in I reported his plate number and told them that he was drunk! They didn't even try to catch him while he was still on the road. Now that time has passed and we recieved the police report , it shows no insurance and no phone numbers. I have kept in contact with the police department and finally got them to give me his phone numbers. I would like to see a drunk driver off the road, but know that it is too late now. What can I do to make him think twice about getting behind the wheel drunk again?!

Well you can sue him in civil court. Make him pay you a lot of money so that he can think twice about doing it again. Also talk to a the Police Chief because a hit and run is a felony especially when intoxicated. If that does not work go to your states attorney and ask for charges to be filed.

If your serious about this you can handle it in civil court or put an ad in the paper about him, be advised you open a legal party when running the ad. But if he damaged your property you can file a civil suit against him at the local court house usually the fee for filing this is 150 dollars no lawyer required. That could throw a scare into him.

You let the police handle it. If you do something stupid like confront him or vandalize his tires, you can be charged with vigilanteeism, and you'll make your position worse. Whether you like them or not, there are procedures that have to be followed in a civilized society.

It's a crime if he fled an accident. They should be able to arrest him on that. However, any evidence that he actually hit your car (besides hearsay) is probably gone.

Start sending your bills to his insurance company.
