We have DirectTV satellite. We got a different TV and hooked it up. It works fine. We have another TV in the kitchen that doesn't have a reciever, we just watch whatever is on, on the other TV. It has to be on, if we want to watch the kitchen TV. The problem is, the TV in the kitchen only has snow now. I called DirectTV and they tried to figure out the problem but couldn't. The splitter is outside and is intact. Nothing was ever done to the kitchen TV. Any idea what the problem could be?

How are you hooking up the second TV? The DirecTV receiver has more than one TV output, and you should be using one of those (one s-video, one composite) for each TV. This way you do not have to have both TVs on (but the receiver has to be on). You should get good picture quality on both sets. Make sure your cables have not come loose.

I see you mentioned a splitter. That suggests you are using the RF ouput (coax) from the receiver. This should work ok, so maybe a cable came loose. Have you tried hooking up the kitchen TV directly to the receiver? Perhaps something went wrong with the TV. If you are using RF, that means the TV must be tuned to ch 3 or 4. Maybe somehow the channel on the kitchen TV got changed.

By the way, even using RF with a splitter, it should not be necessary to have both TVs on to watch either.

I have DirectTV and when I ordered it, someone came out and installed it and set it up for me. Did you buy yours from Best Buy or something? Try and see if they have any technicians that can come out and fix it or see what's wrong with it or call them and tell them they need to tell you how to fix it. Afterall, you are paying for it.
