We had read that Green cards for certain category of workers in the US is processed at a much quicker rate than others and that working at the university in the US as a professor was one of them. The application for Green card was sent via the university and was sent April 06.On enquiring at the univ. we were told that currently applications from 2002 were being processed. Is there a website where we could go to find answers and get numbers we could call and talk to someone at the Immigrations or Homeland secuirty dept as we are not sure who handles the immigration issues now.

Check DHS online. If there are any changes or delays there will be a notice for applicants. Don't listen to anyone else BUT them. Getting a green card is a very slow process and the best thing you can do is keep your status updated and make sure that you have given them the correct address because sometimes things can be lost in the mail and you never know... USICS online also has some basic info about green card applicants and if you have your case number then they can tell you your status. Good luck to you.

You're a teacher and can't find an answer to a question?

The process to get a Green Card is apply, wait in and don't cut in front of anyone else, be approved and then you have a green card...

Unlike the 12 - 30 million illegal aliens that sneaked into the U.S. and are cutting in line in front of everyone else.

They're sitting by the back door waiting and salivating with their their tongues waging for amnesty.

it depends on what category you are in. If it is EB2 (outstanding researchers/professors) you will get ti realtively soon as there are visa numbers available. If it is EB3 (skilled workers) it can take years due to the backlog of visa numbers.

Please remember that it doesn't matter when the USCIS is processing cases, it matters when your visa number becomes available. They only issue a certain numer a year and are very backlogged. you will not get your green card until the number is available. Right now the are issuing numbers recieved in 2001 for most countries.

Please see www. travel.state.gov for the visa numbers.
