When you have onions / garlic - the reason why the odor lingers in our breath is because the odour particles actually travel down into our lung passages & settle there.

No amount of listerine / mouth washing / mints / lozenges / altoids or parsely /basil is going to help clear the odour.
All these only remove the odor in the mouth & from the teeth & tongue.

The best & fastest way to remove the odor is to steam up some water.. add a spoon of vicks or any other nasal decongestant cream into the steaming water..

and then inhale the steam.. the vapours will travel down through the airpipe (trachea) & into your lung passages, right upto alveoli in the lungs & will clear the foul odor instantly.

And this will also clean up your nose & throat - giving you a fresh-in-the-face feeling!

Veesh23 is correct. No amount of brushing will fix this problem. I love garlic breath but no one else does. When I smell it, I always wonder what fabulous dish they had for dinner last night.

Follow Veesh23's advise. It needs to be cleared from the lungs to go away.

Best of luck!

Listerine work great. Remember that if you want to keep bad breath at bay though you have to oxygenate the cells in your mouth. So drink plenty of water and if you don't have any Listerine handy try something sparkling. Just remember sugars will eventually cause bad breath too.

if you can't go brush your teeth, chew on some parsley or basil. if you want like a mint to keep in your car, extreme mints work really well, so do the ice breaker liquid gels. there's also a violet candy (the gum works better) but it's hard to come by (i love it, my sister says it tastes like tide detergent - i want to know when she ate tide!)

parsley and basil are the best answers though as they won't just cover it, they'll make it go away. the other things will cover it until it's far less pungent.

Parsley! Most good restaurants will place a piece as a garnish but if eaten it will help with the odors from these spices

well...you can try the natural variety: mint, or parsley. or the hygenist way: brush your teeth, floss and gargle with mouthwash, or there's a new technique because the bacteria that causes bad breathe is actually accumulated on the back of your tongue, it's called a tongue-scraper...little crescent shaped piece of plastic that you basically scrape your tongue with, and it gets rid of the bath breath bacteria....any of these things will work...combining the brushing/flossing/gargling with the tongue scraper will make it ever better.

Have fun!

brush your teeth, tongue, and roof of your mouth with toothpaste and gargle with listerine or a good strong mouth wash...this will normally kill the monster breath...afterwards chew or suck on some ginger Altoids, if u can find them...they really work for the Dragon Breath...especially in the up close encounters
