I'd say because red goes with many holidays! Valentines Day, Fourth of July, Christmas, and Sweetest Day. Also, the color red is very festive! Makes me want a mixed drink in a red party glass right now! Party at your house! LOL!

Ask the "Solo" cup company.
Actually the make "party" cups in many colors, Red just happens to be the most popular color, with Blue in a close second.

Red is a basic color. Most vehicles are red, too. Blue is the second alternative.

b/c clear is too common and someone could carry one in w/o paying, but colors other than red are hard to find (though some are blue or rarely black)
