What makes you think it has a different kind of worm or worms at all? Have you seen them? Puppies get tape work and round worms. You can buy medication for them most places, but i would call the vet if you think the dog is ill. He can direct you as to what type of medication to give it and how much to use.

Several types of worms are common in puppies...example: whipworms, tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms.....
To make sure you are treating the correct worm, take a stool sample to your vets office and let them do a fecal(where they look at the poop under a microscope). Because some worms are microscopic your Maltese may have worms that you can't even see.

Leave it for your vet to decide.

First... What symptoms did you use to determine treatment in the first place?

Second... If we go with the idea that this was a case of tapes, they can be difficult to get rid of with over-the-counter "wal-mart" type of treatments (ask any kennel owner, they will agree)

Third... whips, hooks & rounds are other possible worms

Without further info to determine if the diagnosis & if the treatment were appropriate to the actual problem, it is impossible to answer your question... please take your puppy to the vet & let them do a stool sample to determine the need for worming and get this dog shots, etc if you haven't already done so & discuss spay/neuter

Your dog needs to go to the vet to determine what she has and the best course of treatments. Self-diagnoses and diagnoses based on information from internet websites should not be trusted; only a vet can make an accurate diagnosis based on a physical exam, a fecal exam, and many other things. Please don't self treat your dog for ANYTHING as potentially deadly as worms. Let the vet make the diagnosis and recommendation as to how your dog should be treated. Good luck to you and I hope your vet is able to work out what's going on with your little one.

How did you manage to take your dog out of the vets care without covering this subject? Rattlesnake venom is probably not as toxic when consumed orally, and would be diffused in the mother's milk (if not neutralized by the vets treatment and development of antibodies by the mother) and broken down in the digestive process.

If the only wormer you've given your pet recently was for tape worms,it will be safe to worm it for other types of worms.I always go with the "Panacur",which can be purchased at any vet clinic and must be repeated everyday for three days, then repeat same in two weeks. This wormer is very safe and can be adminstered to even pregnant females.Ask vet for dosage amount to give your pet.
