It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". If we want a familiar and close relationship, however, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.
The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.
The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".
(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth
(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

God is a title describing what Jehovah is.
Titles describe an aspect or quality of an individual.
President Bush, President describes a job.
Jehovah God, The Lord Jehovah, Jehovah of Hosts
Show the different "roles" Jehovah has. Just as Creator, Ancient of Days, Savior, are also titles that describe Jehovah.

Most people refer to the Creator as "God" because they don't know any better. At their church services, the name Jehovah is rarely if ever used. Many people are surprised to see God's name in their own Bible at Ps. 83:18. Most church people are uncomfortable in using the name Jehovah because to them, God's name is Jesus, even though in their trinity doctrine, he is really 1/3 God. To others, it just doesn't make any difference what they call the Most High. That thought, though, flies right in the face of Jesus' words at Matt. 6:10, where he said: "Our Father in the heavens, let your NAME be sanctified." How can we sanctify, or set God's name apart as being holy if we do not USE His Name?

You're quite right, There has been a concerted effort to removed Jehovah's name so that people can not call on Him. The Bible tells us that those who call on the name of God will be saved but if they don't know his name how can they call on Him? Who would profit most by eliminating the holy name from the scriptures? Who is not just God's enemy but also that of mankind? Keep studying because God moves closer to those who move closer to Him.

He shall be called
Man of sorrows, Lion of the tribe of Judah, Carpenter, Counselor, Son of man, King of the Jews, Jealous, Redeemer.
GOD has many names
Like Jehovah Jireh, Jehova Tsidkenu, Jehova Rapha, Jehova Nissi.
But first and foremost He is GOD

Correct! God is a title just like a son or daughter. Jehovah is God's name.

Ironically, you will not find the Hebrew name for god in the NT used in the present tense, it only uses it when refferring to the OT. Anytime Jesus spoke of god he called him god or Father.
