i haven't ever cheated, but i have friends who come up with many reasons for their own actions. i wondered if anyone could come up with any reasons where it would be justified to cheat on a partner.

Say for example you are in a bad situation - like war - then it is okay. I have been in extremely dangerous situations, and the normal rules go out the window. People grab at what they can get because they don't know how long they have.

No. Cheating is never justified. That's like asking, "is stealing money from a friend ever justified?" I would argue that even if you just think about cheating, you've cheated. If while making love to your wife you're fantasizing about the new secretary at work, that's cheating. Back to the money analogy. You know your friend has a floor safe full of cash and you have the combination. Thinking about stealing the money is the first step to actually doing it. Thinking, planning, doing. All parts of the same act.

All the people always manag to find 'excuses' not 'reasons' to cheat on theri partners. Its never justified, not even if you partner is absolutely hopeless. You should inform the person that you want to quit rather than cheating behind ones back. NO ITS NEVER JUSTIFIED.

The only situations that have given me pause were where one partner was ill (for example Alzheimers) and the other didn't want to divorce him/her but still wanted intimacy...

It's still cheating, but I'd have a tough time negatively judging someone in that type of situation (although I wouldn't approve of their behavior either) but generally, the "not getting any/enough at home" or "my husband/wife doesn't like sex" just doesn't cut it...

Besides...it's an unkewl thing to do, no matter why...what goes around, comes around...I wouldn't want something like that coming back around on me, even if I thought I was justified in my behavior...

Yeah I bet all the friends your talking about are guys. Dont you know, guys always have to blame something or someone else for their bad behavior. Of course there is no justified reason for cheating. How hard is it to say, its over.

no it cant be justified at all. either your with someone or your not. its disrespectful to cheat whatever way you look at it. even if its a revenge scenario. cos that just brings you down to their level and it reduces to tit for tat. once you've cheated or been cheated on you may as well end the relationship as its over anyway, you cant build trust up to the same level that you had after an infidelity.

Cheating hurts, and if you're committed to someone you shouldn't purposely set out to hurt them. It's never justified to cheat, even if the person's cheated on you. It is justified to leave the person if they've cheated on you. That would be far better for poth parties.

I cheated during my marriage because he was beating me, and I felt that by getting me a man on the side would help get me out of the beatings. IT did!! The man helped me and my kids get away from all the sickening abuse!

OTHER than that though, I don't think it's right to cheat. It just makes you one of the dawgs in the pack.

I sometimes feel like a dawg for what I did, but at least my kids and I are alive to be honest about my cheating!

Anything that's wrong can never be justified and cheating is wrong. One should be honest about their relationships because It's not good to play with somebody's feelings. If everyone was honest then their wouldn't be any cheaters.Under no circumstances cheating can be justified. It's better to be honest and break someone's heart rather that cheating on that person and then breaking his/her heart because that would cause him/her more pain.
