he's so aggressive with my 5 year old female. I'm wondering if getting him fixed right now will calm him down. He torments my female cat non stop!

All pets should be spayed or neutered as soon as possible when they are young. This is true regardless of whether they are kept indoors or outdoors. Our cats are all shelter-adopted, INDOORS ONLY, spayed or neutered, neck-microchipped and still wear collars with engraved nameplates. There is a wealth of information on the internet or in a public library to help someone take care of a pet responsibly. The pet overpopulation problem is solely due to the ignorance and/or denial of people who refuse to have their pets fixed.

Please, get your kitty fixed!!! Vets are able to fix kittens as young as 2 months old now! This will not affect your kitty adversely at all. He's exhibiting male behavior already. Once fixed, he won't want to spray to mark territory or bother your female cat. Cat urine is a costly thing to clean in carpets, curtains and possible a sofa!!! I had to and I was in the poor house for a while!!!!Once he starts exhibiting marking behavior before he is fixed it will be harder for him to stop that behavior the longer you put it of fixing him. Some cats continue to mark, even though they are fixed since it is now a learned behavior. Then you will have a tough decision to make. Good luck with your kitty.

yes male cats do experience heat as well but that might not be the reason for the torment five months is a little young for their first heat it might just be a dominence problem where the younger cat is fighting for dominence over the female...not necessarily sexually however getting him fixed before he goes into heat will help him calm down

Is he fixed? If not, its about time for him to get fixed. Otherwise, he will start spraying urine around to mark his territory. Also, a male cat that is not fixed is more aggressive. If he is not fixed, and smells a female cat in heat, he will go ape! And then he will REALLY start marking his territory and man, it smells bad! If he has had sex already, even if you get him fixed, he still may spray.

yes, they do go in heat but differently than female cats. Fixing him with calm him down for good. They also start to mark their territory by "spaying" or urinating around the house to mark their territory. The smell is much stronger than the normal urine.

No, males do not go into heat. It's just like humans and dogs - once they reach sexual maturity, males are always fertile, females are fertile during estrus/mensturation.

Neutering him may stop the behavior, it may not. He could just be acting this way because he is a teenager. Is your female spayed? If not, that could be a big part of this.
