I am an ICT tech and i want to learn how to install a server fresh. I have a server 2003 install already on a virtual machine but i am unsure what to do next i have literaly only just installed the server 2003 and run the updates so now it is server 2003 sp1 any help, websites, books would be greatly appreciated

What you do next depends entirely on what the server's purpose is. You can install Active Directory - a common service that most domains have. Read more at:

There are hundreds of books out there. I suggest one that is written by Microsoft. They typically are very comprehensive, however are VERY expensive. Find them on half.com or others.

I would suggest starting small, work on getting something like a webserver, then file sharing, then email, then work your way with the specialty applications such as Active Directory and others.

Good luck, and believe me it's a very fun journey and well worth the time to learn!
