because my mom does and she doesn't care what religion i am i mean she's not like other's who keep their kids in a little box and tell them that other religions are stupid and the people are idiots because i went from baptist to pagan to agnostic to satanist to athiest and now back to satanist...without even saying one bad thing to me

My child was not only encouraged, we helped him seek out religions that would be of interest to him.

Each parent will teach their child in the understanding that they are capable of. This does not mean that they are correct but they are following their hearts. The child is born knowing the path it wishs to follow and if they listen to their instincts as they grow they will know what direction to go.
The reason as child might place themselves in an atmosphere that appears so unenlightened is they may be the teacher that their parent needs to advance. We learn much from our children!

I think children should have the choice and help if they are undecided.
My daughter came from a two religion household. She was not christened at birth and as a 10 yrs old she chose to be Catholic and gave herself to be baptized in the church. Although looking at your list I certainly wouldn't be to happy if she chose one of them .

I may get nailed for saying this, but usually parents that don't try to instruct their children in some type of spiritual path, in my opinion, are not concerned for their children. Even if the parents are wrong about their particular beliefs, it is their DUTY to instruct and watch out for their children's well-being, especially when it comes to their immortal souls. Do you mean your mother wouldn't care if you turned to satanism or the occult? I think you're underestimating her, perhaps.....

Because heavily religious parents (eg: Christians) want their kids to be "saved" and join them in heaven once the world ends or something.

Because God loans our children to us.
They are not ours.
It is our job to raise them in God and to follow His word.
When my kids turn 18 than it's their choice.
At least I will be able to face God and say I did all I could, I laid the foundation.
Plus, I want to see my loved ones in heaven with me.
