They say that to perform brain surgery, you dont need pain killers, as the brain doesnt feel pain. IN that case, why do we get headaches?

Headaches don't always stem from the brain. There are thousands of reasons for a headache, from stress to the type of food you eat.
As you said in your post, the brain does not feel pain because there are no pain receptors in the brain itself.
I have had a headache 24/7 for the past 20 yrs, with 28 brain surgeries to try and take it away with no success.

i would think you would still need pain killers for when they sliced the top of your head off......
