No, eating something with rust is not harmful -- it's basically just like taking an iron supplement...but I wouldn't recommend making a habit of it.
Stepping on a rusty object itself (and having it puncture you) is not intrinsically dangerous, it's whether or not the rusty object is contaminated with the bacteria that causes tetanus (C. tetani).

No. You cannot get tetanus from eating something with rust. It won't taste real good, but it's not particularly dangerous. Food poisoning is another question....

Getting punctured with something dirty/rusty is not the same as ingesting something dirty/rusty...unless the item had any sharp or jagged edges, it will probably be harmlessly passed in a couple of days...

its not the rust thats bad...(its just iron oxide)..its the tetnus (sp?) that gets in ur bloodstream. Im not sure if it can get in ur blood thru eating though.

HELLO!! How did you manage to accidentally eat something
rusty? Nobody in the right mined picks up something that's not
eatable and put it in their mouth and eat it. Unless your a crawling
infant or toddlers that doesn't know better. And I pretty sure you
are old enough to know better.
