I am not sure what the symptoms of an anxiety attack are but I was sweating like crazy and I felt like I couldn't breathe and my heart was beating crazy. I felt like I was extremely scared, the way my heart was beating, but for no apparent reason. It took 3 or 4 hours to fall asleep.
And no, I don't do any drugs, drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes.
And no, I didnt have anything to be nervous about the next day.

Is it just stress? Should I see a doctor? Is this what an anxiety attack feels like?

Well you can talk yourself into an anxiety attack and talk yourself out of one.

Try and think of the reason you felt scared, it is a feeling, did you watch a scary movie lately, is it what's in the news.

We live in frightening times if you experience this again try praying and putting your fear in God's hand, ask him in the name of Jesus to help you overcome this irrational fear.

You can also try deep breathing exercises if you can't fall asleep.

Don't stress over one night, you may just have not been tired, if it bbecomes routine then I would consult a doctor.

Yes, what you describe is what a panic or anxiety attack feels like. Most people experience a few in their lives. One attack though does not mean you have "panic or anxiety" problems. If you begin to fear another attack or have repeated episodes day or night of the above symptoms you should see your doctor right away. They will likely (I hope) want to rule out possible physical causes prior to diagnosing you with anxiety. Good luck. A lot of people do have these disorders, you are not alone.

It does sound like an anxiety attack, has there been some thing new going on in your life, new job, new purchase, or even some thing going on with some one close to you... some thing that does not feel comfortable and that you are a bit uneasy about, could be some thing that is unresolved and really could be a worry in the back of your mind, but this is a way of your body saying... it needs to be resolved to where you are finaly comfortable with it... if it persist, talk with your doctor... it can lead to health problems however mild anxiety is farely calmon

Trinity,
Sounds like a classic panic attack. If they continue you should seek a doctors advise. Panic will eventually eat into your life and make you a sort of prisioner of your own house if you dont get it controlled. Good luck to you young lady.

First don't over stress over one night of loss sleep. Second don't diagnos yourself. Third, cut out all caffeine products, including coke. Also stop taking antihistamines. If you are taking prescribed medication ask your pharmacist if the medication(s) you are taking can cause sleeplessness.

Finally, give yourself another chance, if it happens again, see a doctor.
