Beef Jerkey is the best. there is turkey jerkey, ham jerkey. Buy a bottle of liquid smoke. they have it in the spice isle at the grocery store. Slice it up thin like thin lunch meat, soak your meats for about 15 to 30 min then put on racks and dry. you can do grapes.bananas, apricots, apple slices, oranges, spices, just peel slice & dry. Liquid smoke is only for meats, MArinade sauces work too.

"Beef Jerky" - 1/2 pound

1 lb. boneless beef round steak
1 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

1) Freeze meat 1 hour to firm (makes slicing easier); trim and discard fat from steak. Cut steak into very thin slices.
2) Place strips in single layer on wire rack in jelly-roll pan. Sprinkle with garlic salt and pepper.
3) Bake at 200*, about 6 hours until beef is dry. Cool; store in covered container in refrigerator.
(Obviously, you'll adjust steps for your dehydrater.)

I like to put soy sauce before adding the seasonings pepper, garlic & onion. the soy sauce usually has enough salt but I like to dip & season 1 more time halfway through the drying process
