Is it a cliche or does it hold some truth.....the old adage...."men date an out-going girl when they are just having fun but settle down with the girl next door"....if this is true.....why?

I don't know about that - I think this really differs with all men. I have always preferred the girl next door type. I think it also works in reverse. Older girls tend to go for me because I am the nice guy who has his life together, I think a lot of times girls my age prefer the bad boy types. I really don't think all of this is true, but a lot of times it looks that way. Keep your chin up though, you aren't finding the right guys.

Its probably true, men (and more frequently, women) are sex nuts, out going girls are easy and all fun, which is all that matters in most relationships sadly. I try to be everything against men steryotypes so im not sure about this, i think maybe they settle for the girl next door when they're old enough too develope a brain bigger then their winky

I guess when you think that the out-going girl is probably still going to be flirtatious even within the bounds of matrimony, and the girl-next-door type is likely to be more loyal, I can see why it might generally be true.
Then again... there are really no absolutes. I'm going for the balanced girl. Wild sometimes but grounded overall.

No, not true. It honestly depends on the guy. I am very outgoing and my boyfriend is wanting to settle down with me! So don't try to be the "girl next door" just because thats what you think some guy is gonna like you for. Guys like girls that are real, and don't try to be someome else just because they want to please everybody! So some guys are like this, but other guys hate girls like this.

I believe it is true, personally i have lots of guy-friends and i used to see them go out witht the most u know what girls jaja lol and most of the settled down with girls they can take to their momma, thats what they want a girl they can take to mom.
