I work out a lot, and I do many forms of cardio, but running is the only form that makes my legs and my sides itch. Even a brisk cold shower doesn't work. I am not red or have any rash like markings. It is very painful. Help!

I get this problem too, it's probably a syndrome called Exercise Induced Anaphylaxis. Basically an allergy to running - can be dangerous if you try to run through it, you should check out this article: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0876/is_n51/ai_8540823

I have had the same problem and it is actually associated with sweat glands and an allergic response by the body. I am guessing that this typically happens out side and does it when you have taken a little break. It helps to run on the treadmill for a couple of weeks and condition yourself before going outside.

i get that too.. It is so intense that i have to stop. My doctor told me it could be an allergic reaction to my own sweat. Once it happens i take a shower or use baby wipes to wipe off my stomach and upper legs and it goes away. But i understand how horrible it is. It prevents me from taking walks anymore.

That is interesting. Do you run outside ? Maybe you are getting bitten by something ?
Sounds like an allergic reaction to something - Do you eat or drink anything different prior to running than you do prior to your other activities ?

You may have clogged up pores. Do you use any lotions or sprays? Those could be getting in your pores and then when you sweat pressure is built up which casues itching. Or lotions or body spray may get into the pores when you sweat resulting in irritation.

You may also try going to a sauna and sweating it all out. It could just be impurities being sweat out by your body that itch when they come out.

Maybe something to do with blood flow.

Try to warmup and stretch next time before running.

If that does not help, see a doctor!

That's happened to me before. My mom always told me it was because of the fat inside the body moving around or rubbing against each other... Not sure if that's true, but that's what she told me. (I wasn't fat, btw)
