Guys are the same as girls in that some guys like to be approached by a girl and some guys don't.
The best thing to do is be honest and ask in such a way that the guy doesn't feel obligated or trapped. Use your own words of course, but you can say something like, "John, you seems like an interesting person and I thought that if you think I might be interesting too we could spend some time getting to know one another and who knows we might just hit it off. I'm not saying I think we're perfect for one another or anything weird like that, I just thought we could get to know each other a little better and see where it goes. I'm planning on going to check out (insert movie title here) and wondered if you'd like to come along. Maybe we could stop for coffee after the movie and get to know one another a little better. What do you think?"
So you're basically saying "you SEEM like someone I'd like to hang out with, can we talk some to find out if I'm right".
Oh and by the way, going to a movie together gives you something you both have experienced that you can talk about for a while before getting into the personal stuff.

If the guy is shy yes its easy for the girl to come to the guy. If his open to other girls like crazy then he can apporch her. I had a few crushs in high school and i was never able to approuch women and whenn they came to me they just said hi and bye.
So just find an intrested

I liked being approached, im really shy but once you get to know me im much nicer. so its nice to get approached once in a while. it should be nice and in a polite way. If you come out too strong youll scare the dude.

I like it when a girl approach's me first it shows alot of confidence and it is a change for me. It takes the pressure off of appraoching them.
