When a person smokes a cigarette, he or she inhales about 1.2 mg of nicotine (and other toxic substances). The body's defense mechanisms are immediately activated to minimize the spread of these poisons and to process and expel the nicotine quickly. The heart beats faster, increasing blood flow and blood pressure. More oxygen is carried to the brain, sugar is released into the bloodstream by the liver, and as a result of the body speeding up the smoker experiences an energy lift and "feels good" After about 15 minutes, the person begins to feel pleasantly relaxed as the body processes slow down. This is due in part to a reaction to the initial stimulation brought about by the nicotine, and probably also due to the sedative effects of carbon monoxide (which is present in cigarette smoke in concentrations 400 times greater than the permitted environmental level). After a while, the adrenaline activated "lifts" are used up, and the level of blood sugar rapidly decreases. This causes the smoker to feel uncomfortable and fidgety - a condition commonly referred to as "smoker's tension." This is usually relieved by smoking another cigarette. And the cycle starts over.

I hope you are not smoking. Nothing happens when you smoke one cigarette. Know if you are going to smoke a lot of cigarrettes. You can get lung cancer, and a lot more disease too. There are nasty chemicals in cigarettes like rat poisioning to name off one. That is nasty. There are more. So don't start smoking.

All the yucky excess of the yucky stuff that is in the filter goes into your lungs.

Your lungs then get black and all the little air pockets slowly harden until you have less and less lung space for air. That is Emphysema.
Trust me when I say, it's a NASTY way to die.
My Dad died from 68 years of smoking and his death lasted about 6 or 7 years. In the end He knew no one, was blind, deaf, and had to be fed by a nurse. Oh yes he was on oxygen for 5 to 7 years and still smoked.

Slowly you get less and less oxygen into your blood stream so all of your organs are deprived of oxygen. Your brain, your eyes, your ears and every other organ that you depend on will slowly cease functioning.

You get a buzz that comes from all of the blood vessels in your lungs closing up and lessening the oxygen to your brain. When you exhale, it clears them and you get a head rush and a false feeling of well being and satisfaction.

Basically... you're sending signals to your brain (that for something supposedly so intelligent, it supposedly doesn't ever really have any idea what's going on) that are telling it that you are being both asphyxiated and then saved in tiny intervals...
