I have damaged my hair with too many color processes, and would love information on the best conditioners or home treatments to cut down the frizz a bit while healthy hair grows in.

I have to color my hair every three weeks because of my grays. That said, I treat my hair at least once a month with a combination of olive oil, eggs, and mayo. You can buy this from drugstores (in the African-American beauty section). This combination does wonders for hair. I recommend that you try it once a week.

Purchase a 5 pound can of industrial strength crisco. Massage the entire contents of the can into your hair. After several months, rinse the crisco out of your hair. For severely damaged hair, this process may need to be repeated 17 or 18 times. As a side benefit of this method, you are sure to make the acquaintance of many local pets and often a farm animal or two.

First of all!!!!STOP the chemical treatment(you did not specify) color, highlites, perming, whatever it is. You need to get a good reconstruct, something that adds protein to the hair to make it strong again. Keep trimming your hair also, it kind of speeds the process, and last but not least go out and get some good product such as DAVINES VEGETARIAN MIRACLE, an awesome product for your hair. Also find a new Hairdresser. Good Luck!

It depends on what your hair type is. The Mayonnaise conditions your hair. It also saves you money. If money isn't the problem then Redken has excellent hair products for different types of hair.
I live in Germany and the water has a lot of calcium leaving my hair and skin very dry. The Redken products have helped my now natural hair grow healthy and strong. I also use olive oil and products with olive oil coat my hair in between blow dries.
Hope this is helpful.

The problem: While changing your color often might be fun, the process of applying, taking out, and redepositing pigment to the hair is, in simple terms...damaging.

The solution: Always opt for a professional salon colorist when possible, especially if you're going from dark to blonde. One of the biggest problems with at-home coloring is overlapping -- recoloring all of the hair as opposed to just covering the regrowth -- which makes hair look dense and dull when it's dark, worn out and broken when it's blonde. If you are going to color at home, remember semipermanent colors are always less harmful than permanents. Look for formulas with low or no ammonia.

The best products: KMS Color Vitality Intensive Treatment Leave In, $9.99 Garnier Fructis Fortifying Deep Conditioner 3 Minute Masque, $3.39

The problem: A major misconception is that hair must be shampooed daily. Overwashing hair dries it out, which can cause breakage.

The solution: Clean does not always mean good condition. A shampoo every other day is more than enough. Instead of washing hair daily, simply rinse hair and condition. On the days when you do use shampoo, it is important that you choose one specifically for your hair type, as all shampoos are not created equal. Your scalp's natural oils are best for your hair, so after detangling hair -- best done with a Boar-bristled brush like Mason Pearson -- brush from roots to ends to distribute the natural oil throughout.

If you have naturally curly, frizzy hair, or coarse thick permed hair that is out of control, this is what our Beauty experts do to control it:

1. We take about a dime size portion of Paul Mitchell The Conditioner and 2-3 drops of Varnish by A-G. Mix them together on your palm and apply on damp, clean hair and work through evenly. Distribute from roots to ends. Let dry naturally.

2. If you want a little more control to style your usually frizzy hair, try adding as dime size portion of styling lotion to the above mixture. We like Moisture Mousse by Focus 21.

3. Hair that is naturally curly or frizzy usually lacks moisture that is why it is important to use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Get your stylist to recommend one suited for you.

Of course, your stylist can also recommend the proper haircut and style for your hair. We find that Velcro rollers work great at smoothing out frizzy hair. Use your Velcro rollers on dry hair and apply heat, with your blow dryer.

Go to Sally's or a hair supply store. Purchase a tub of cholestrol. Do a scalp treatmnet with the cream. cover in plastic hair net. wrap in a hot towel and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then rinse and shampoo. This will do wonders with damaged hair.

Get your ends trimmed, then get regular deep conditioning treatments. Or find a good reconstructioning conditioner and do your own deep conditioning treatments at home. Also, avoid blowdrying and using any other heat styling when possible (no curling irons!). Let your hair air dry and only blow dry gently afterwards to straighten it. Then use heated rollers to curl it.

grow your hair out, it obviously will take some time but after all that overprocessed hair is longer and you have your new hair grown in cut off as much of the overprocessed hair and your natural hair will be there and make sure you do some deep conditioning and using olive oil is amazing just make sure to wash it completely out i would also suggest not doing too much to it for a while, especially color or straighten or blow dry that will damage it even further. Also,DRINK ALOT OF WATER, that rehydrates your hair. Eat healthy beneficial foods as well (not too sure what foods...) be careful

All Soft by Redken and K-Pak by Joico worked the best for me! Trim often and try to steer clear of too much heat. Spray in a heat protector before styling too... I got the protect and shine serum by Joico and I just use it on the ends and it makes my hair look really healthy....even though it is probably about to fall out of my head!!!

While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.
