We gals look for men's shirts and jeans all the time. I know guys who love the feel of lingerie, and even - because of their build - find some junior's jeans or socks more comfortable. Does it really matter which side of the clothing aisle we buy our clothes?

I really don't think so. Most of society's "hang-ups" are artificial -- that is, our taboos are self-created and don't arise from any kind of "natural law." I believe there are more men who harbor secret urges to wear women's clothing than admit to it. Society needs to open up a little -- we will be better for it because so many of our problems result from repressiveness.

Anyway, consider kilts. They are common in the UK, but middle America would be shocked to see a man in a "skirt." That's not going to stop me from getting one, though. I myself am also wearing women's running shoes (Ryka) because they have better styling and fit my foot better.

I really don't think its considered crossdressing unless the individual is buying clothes designed for the opposite sex to make themselves appear to be more like the opposite sex ... like lesbians who dress primarily in men's clothing so that they will promote that part of their personality. I don't think that buying a pair of men's jeans or a pair of women's socks really means alot ... its the image you're trying to convey as you wear them ...

Now the whole lingerie thing ... I'm not so sure about that ....

For the most part it isn't an issue. Its even okay to dress a boy up in a dress for Halloween or just as playful silliness. However it is an issue for male to female crossdressers. These are men who try to assume a female alter-ego and their brains are firing off a mess of neurotransmitters that gives them a sensation of sexual gratification.

These men feel they NEED to dress up as a woman and assume a female persona. Sometimes they try to purge themselves and then, like a drug addict, they return worst than when they started. For the most part these are heterosexual men. Oftentimes their wives say they feel like they are their husband's second love - their first is their female alter-ego.

Society believes that it is healthy for boys to like being boys and for girls to like being girls. It is considered unhealthy for boys to want to be girls. So while it's okay for a man to playfully dress in women's clothes, it is not okay for a man to feel that he needs to crossdress and to get sexual pleasure from doing so.

I don't think there is any problem with it. People should be able to wear whatever they are comfortable in.
