I just noticed it a month or two ago. It's a small bump about the size of a pea. It's in his fur/on the skin, near his front leg. It may be getting larger, I'm not certain. Is this something to be concerned about, or is this common with cats? This is my first cat, so I have no experience.

Certainly get it checked out, but it sounds like it's probably a sebacious cyst, sounds serious but it's just a fluid-filled bump that may get a bit larger or it may not. My little dog has a few of them and I panicked, but the vet says they're fairly common.

It's definitely not uncommon. I wouldn't be too concerned as with cats only about 25% of growths found are malignant. A cat at your age probably has a cyst of a fat deposit. It could also be an infected flea or tick bite. As a precaution you may want to have the bump checked out by a vet the next time you go in. Just check it periodocally to see if its growing, or if it develops into something like a rash or starts to bleed. If the bump seems to be bothering the cat, get him in to see the vet soon.

It might not be anything too serious.

Make an appt with a vet and in the time being keep checking on the bump. Make sure it doesnt get bigger. My 5 y/o cat had a pea sized bump on his neck, but it ended up being nothing.

As long as he is eating and drinking and acting normally, there is nothing to worry about.

Yes, whenever you notice something on your cat that has not always been there, you should be concerned. It could be anytthing, but you need to take him to the vet. What if you had a big bump under your skin that was growing? You'd go to the doctor, right? Same thing! You should take him asap.

ok...no- bumps are not that common in a cat that young....does he go out...could be a tick? could be a lil wart type growth...either way-yes...best to be checked. And, if he goes outside....plz make sure all shots r current...so many sicknesses & death occur between cats with no vaccines.

i does no longer declaw and study this till now you establish you do unlike me!!!! We have been given those mushy paws that are little rubber caps which you place onto the cats claws so as that they nevertheless have claws yet they at the instant are not sharp and that they might't destroy something. they actually do artwork and it lots greater much inexpensive than getting the cat declawed.
